PORT ANGELES — In high school basketball action from Friday night, the defending state champion 11–1 Bremerton Knights proved they’re more than a one-man show.

With All-American guard Jalen Davis, who averages 31 points per game, sidelined all night with a badly sprained ankle, Bremerton still held on to beat Port Angeles 66–59.

The difference was Bremerton’s football-basketball standout Enoch Taylor. The 6-foot-1 junior poured in 29 points to lead the Knights.

For the Roughriders, guard Brody Pierce scored 18 points, senior forward Hunter Flores was hot from the perimeter with 16, and junior Ashton Gedelman added 11.

The 5–5 Roughriders host Kingston tomorrow night.

As expected, the Port Angeles girls rolled to another Olympic League blowout, crushing Bremerton 56–9.

Teanna Clark led the way with 18 points, while Lindsay Smith added 16. The Roughriders travel to 4–2 Kingston tomorrow night.

In NWAC basketball action, the Peninsula College men dropped a tough one at home, falling to Whatcom 75–71.

The Pirates led 32–31 at halftime, but the free-throw line told the story. Whatcom went to the stripe 44 times, compared to just 19 for Peninsula. The Orcas outscored the Pirates 31–14 at the line, and that proved to be the difference.

Patrick O’Dingo led Peninsula with 18 points, Sam Tekeste scored 11, and Nic Hofmann of Bonn, Germany finished with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Former Roughrider Gus Halberg chipped in 8 points.

The fifth-ranked 10–4 Peninsula women dominated Whatcom 83–46.

Sophomore forward Makena Patrick continued her tear, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Malia Garcia scored 14, Alecsis Smith added 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Aspen Fraser finished with 12 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Pirates sophomore forward Makena Patrick scored 16 points in Peninsula’s 83–46 win over Whatcom.

The Pirates head to Bellevue on Wednesday, and both games will be broadcast right here on KONP Newsradio.

And finally, bowling today as the Roughriders host Olympic at 2:45.
