CARLSBORG — Clallam Public Utility District customers will see their rates go up this year.
PUD officials say the increases this spring are driven by rising operational costs and long-term infrastructure plans.
Starting April 1, electricity rates will rise 3.75% for the district’s nearly 37,000 customers. Another 3.75% hike is scheduled for April 2027, as part of a two-year rate plan approved last September.
Officials say the current increase breaks down to 1.75% for operations, 1% for capital projects, and 1% to help fund debt service on a new Port Angeles Operations Center.
According to staff, the average residential customer will pay just under $6 more per month.
Water and wastewater rates will also rise on March 1. Water bills for nearly 4,800 customers will go up 4.75%, while wastewater rates will increase 9% for about 90 customers.
