LOCAL SPORTS: Former Roughriders and Pirates Shine as Local Teams Hit the Court

PORT ANGELES — Former Roughrider Eve Burke is putting together another outstanding basketball season for the Linfield Wildcats.

In her senior year, Burke has helped lead the Wildcats to an 8–0 conference record and a 15–2 overall mark. She has started all 17 games this season, averaging 24 minutes per game while scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 rebounds per contest.

Burke is shooting 44 percent from the field, 42 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

In a 64–54 win over Willamette; Burke finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She followed that up with 22 points and eight rebounds in a 74–69 victory over George Fox.

Meanwhile, two former Peninsula Pirates are contributing to a strong Montana State–Northern team. Shania Moanunu and Ciera Agasiva are playing for the Northern Lights, who are 13–6 overall and 9–5 in conference play.

Agasiva has started all 19 games, averaging 29 minutes per game, 13 points, and three rebounds. Moanunu is averaging 12 minutes per game and three points per contest.

Former Peninsula Pirates Shania Moanunu (#3) and Ciera Agasiva (#0) are contributing to a strong Montana State–Northern Lights team.

Both Port Angeles Roughrider basketball teams are in action tonight.

The Roughrider girls, 9–0 in league play and 11–5 overall, host North Kitsap, 5–4 and 7–7, tonight at 7:00. The teams will meet again Saturday at North Kitsap for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off, and that game will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio.

The Roughrider boys, 8–3 in league and 10–6 overall, travel to North Kitsap, 1–9 and 1–15, tonight for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off, with live coverage right here on KONP Newsradio.
