SEATTLE — Longtime Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs announced he will step down after the 2026 season, ending a 40-year run as the team’s primary radio voice.
Rizzs, who turned 72 in November, began with the Mariners in 1983 alongside Hall of Famer Dave Niehaus. He spent three seasons with the Detroit Tigers in the early ’90s before returning to Seattle in 1995. Rizzs’ 40 seasons with the club are the most in franchise history.
Calling the job the “highlight of my life,” Rizzs said he plans to work all home games and a limited number of road games in 2026 before retiring to spend more time with family.
Off the field, Rizzs co-founded the Toys for Kids charity, which has supported thousands of children and families across the Northwest since 1995.
