PORT ANGELES — If Port Angeles Roughrider fans showed up to the Bremerton–Port Angeles boys basketball game wanting to see what a No. 1–ranked defending champion looks like, now they know.

Bremerton jumped out to a 51–15 halftime lead as the Roughriders committed 24 turnovers on the night. The final score, 67–45, could have been much worse. Late in the game, with the Knights up by 40, they cleared the bench—and at that point had just two turnovers for the entire game.

Four Knights finished in double figures. All-American Jalen Davis scored 14 points in the first half, then took a siesta in the second half, distributing the ball to his teammates.

Brody Pierce led the Roughriders with 11 points, while Kieler Point added 10.

In the JV game, the Roughriders knocked off the Knights 79–70. Jaike Parker lit up Bremerton for 33 points, and Sawyer Davis added 24.

The Roughrider girls also picked up a win, defeating Bremerton 72–45. Lindsay Smith led Port Angeles with 17 points, followed by Morgan Politika with 16. Teanna Clark scored 10, London Bourland had 8, Sariah Doherty added 7, Makkiah Stevens finished with 5, and Kenzie Moses chipped in 4.

The Roughriders can clinch the Olympic League championship at home against Kingston on Thursday night. It’s also Senior Night.

The Peninsula Pirates host Shoreline tonight, with the men tipping off at 5:00. Peninsula, 2–5 in league play, beat 1–6 Shoreline 84–82 in overtime in their first meeting. A Pirate win would keep them in the hunt for the fourth NWAC playoff spot.

You can hear the game live on KONP Newsradio, with the pregame show at 4:45. Greg Thomas has the play-by-play, and Joe Gladfelter provides the color commentary.

The Pirate women moved up to the No. 3 spot in this week’s NWAC Top 10 poll. They tip off at 7:00 tonight against the Dolphins.

Roughriders senior softball pitcher Lynzee Reid was in Las Vegas this week, showing off both a red-hot bat and a strong arm for her Snohomish Shock softball team. In the championship game, Reid stunned the Las Vegas Rising with three home runs. She also pitched 4⅓ innings, allowing just two runs.

The Shock finished 3–1 on the weekend, with wins over the Boise Blast and Alberta Parks of Canada.

Reid has signed a letter of intent with defending NWAC champion Lower Columbia College.
