
PORT ANGELES — In NWAC basketball action, the third-ranked Peninsula Pirates women had to grind out another hard-earned win, knocking off the always-tough Bellevue Bulldogs 50–43.
The Pirates, now 18–4 overall and a perfect 10–0 in conference play, jumped out to a 26–18 halftime lead and held on for their 50th straight Northern Conference victory.
Alecsis Smith led the way with 14 points and eight rebounds. Makena Patrick was tough inside with nine points and nine boards. Kimberlee Brown added nine points. Former Neah Bay Red Devil Ryana Moss finished with seven points and six rebounds, while point guard Marley Myers chipped in six points, three assists, and two steals.

Pirate sophomore forward Makena Patrick scored nine points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Pirates remained unbeaten at 10–0 in Northern Conference play.
On the men’s side, the Pirates ran into the top-ranked team in the conference, as Bellevue showed why it sits at number one in the NWAC. The Bulldogs built a 42–20 halftime lead and cruised to a 74–54 win.
Patrick O’Dingo led Peninsula with 11 points. Sam Tekeste and Cinco McNeal each scored 10. The Pirates, now 4–6, remain tied with Everett for the fourth and final playoff spot.
Meanwhile, former Roughrider and Pirate Millie Long posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Fresno State Bulldogs defeated Boise State Broncos 75–69.
