PORT ANGELES — Work is set to resume Monday on a U.S. 101 fish-passage project at Lees and Ennis creeks east of Port Angeles.
Construction had been paused since late last year but will restart March 16 as crews continue replacing outdated culverts that block salmon and other fish from reaching upstream habitat.
Drivers should expect intermittent single-lane closures overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with no daytime lane closures planned.
This spring, traffic at the Ennis Creek work zone will shift from one side of the highway to the other so crews can complete construction of the new bridge.
During the summer, crews will also work in the creek beds during the seasonal “fish window,” when construction has the least impact on migrating fish.
The project is expected to continue through the fall. Once the new bridges at Lees and Ennis creeks are finished, traffic will be moved into its final configuration and the work zone will be removed.
