PORT ANGELES — Former Roughrider shortstop Alex Angevine is having a solid freshman season at Western Oregon University.
Angevine, now playing mostly in the outfield, has made 14 starts with 46 at-bats. He’s hitting .261 with 12 hits, including three doubles and a home run, along with six walks and seven RBIs.
The Red Wolves, currently 9–12 on the season, will play a four-game series at Central Washington University April 10th and 11th, followed by another four-game set at Saint Martin’s April 30th through May 1st.

Former Roughrider third baseman Josiah Gooding is also off to a strong start at Olympic College.
Gooding has appeared in all 14 games during his freshman season, making four starts. He has 35 at-bats with eight hits, including two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He’s driven in five runs and is hitting .229.

Former Roughrider Zoe Smithson is putting together another all-conference-caliber season for the PLU Lutes.
Smithson, who earned second-team All-Northwest Conference honors last season along with third-team All-Region recognition, is now a senior playing catcher and outfield.
This season, she has made 11 starts and is hitting .371 with 13 hits in 35 at-bats. She’s scored eight runs, with one double, two home runs, nine RBIs, and seven stolen bases.
The Lutes are 8–4 on the season.
There’s a full schedule of high school sports today, although weather could impact some games.
In baseball, Port Angeles travels to North Mason, while Sequim hosts Kingston. Both games are scheduled for 4:15.
In boys soccer, the Roughriders host North Mason, and Sequim travels to Kingston. Both matches start at 7:00.
