Sequim – The much-anticipated grand opening of the new Sequim Library is this coming Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Most, but not all services will be available on day one. Community members can explore the new building, sign up for library cards and check out materials. Additional services and programs will roll out in the coming weeks, including reservations for study and meeting rooms.
A separate community celebration is planned for later this summer.
Library patrons will be able to enjoy the space while several building projects are still underway. Contractors will be completing final items such as installing a cedar sunshade on the east window wall, irrigation updates and additional landscaping over the next few months, as the weather warms.
Following the March 21 opening, regular hours will resume, that is 10-7:00 Monday through Thursday; 9-6:00 on Friday; 10-5:00 on Saturday.
The new library building was funded through timber revenue, community donations and state grants. The construction was paid for through the NOLS capital budget, not by the library levy.
Details about the summer community celebration will be announced at a later date.
The Sequim Library is located at 630 N. Sequim Avenue.
