PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into child sexual abuse material.
Fifty-eight-year-old Robert J. Phifer was charged March 19th in Clallam County Superior Court with five counts of first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, along with one count in the second degree.
According to authorities, the case began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which was forwarded to Port Angeles Police through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Detective Corporal Ordona led the investigation, obtaining a search warrant that identified a location tied to the tip. A second warrant was later served at Phifer’s residence, where officers seized multiple digital and storage devices.
Police say a forensic review of that evidence established probable cause for Phifer’s arrest. He was taken into custody March 16th and booked into the Clallam County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
