LOCAL SPORTS: Port Angeles Tennis Tops Bremerton; Busy Day Ahead Across Peninsula Sports

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles tennis team turned in a strong performance against Bremerton yesterday, coming out on top 5–2.

In singles play, Cayleigh Alward picked up a win, 6–1, 6–3. Audrey Rudd faced a tough opponent and fell 0–6, 0–6. Alyssom Larsen dropped a competitive match, 6–7, 5–7, 0–6.

In doubles, Rylie Medley and Allison Fricker won 6–1, 6–3. Brylie Martin and Keira Brown cruised to a 6–1, 6–0 win, and Charlotte Curran and Cate Chance took their match 6–4, 6–0.

Looking ahead today, Port Angeles is at Olympic, while Sequim travels to Bainbridge. Both tennis matches begin at 4:00.

On the baseball diamond, North Mason is at Sequim and Bainbridge visits Port Angeles, with both games set for 4:15.

In golf, Bremerton is at Port Angeles with a 3:00 tee time.

On the soccer pitch, Port Angeles hosts Olympic and Sequim hosts Bainbridge, with both matches kicking off at 7:00.

In softball, Sequim travels to North Kitsap for a 5:00 start, while Port Angeles heads to Bremerton for a 4:15 first pitch.

Meanwhile, the Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team has signed a highly decorated goalkeeper from Reno, Nevada. Storrey Schnarr led Bishop Manogue to a Sierra League championship with a 5–2 league record and an 11–4 overall mark. She earned First Team All–Sierra League honors and was also named Second Team All–North Region.

Storrey Schnarr of Reno, Nevada, is now a Pirate after earning First Team All–Sierra League honors as a goalkeeper.

On the men’s side, the Pirates have signed Yusei Honjo of Kyoto, Japan.
