PORT ANGELES — A new symbol of peace will be dedicated on the city’s waterfront tomorrow.
A Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pebble Beach Park, bringing together the Nor’Wester Rotary Club, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, the City of Port Angeles, and community members.
The pole features the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, including Klallam — translated by Tribal Elder Jamie Valadez as “May Peace Be Felt in our Homes.”
Organizers say the site, on Klallam ancestral land and near key cultural and educational spaces, reflects a shared commitment to community, culture, and stewardship.
The ceremony will include brief remarks, a moment of reflection, and participation from a local mediation group focused on dialogue and conflict resolution.
The free event is open to the public, with cookies and coffee to follow.
