
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles girls golf coach Casey Dietz has his Roughriders off to a 2-0 start with close wins over Bremerton, 247 to 252, and Kingston, 255 to 282.
Leading the Riders through two matches—Layla Parker with a 58 average, Mya Callis at 64, while Izzy Spencer and Laney Rudd are both averaging 65. Amy Biondillo is at 67, and Raynee Ciarlo at 69.
In baseball, Sequim beat North Mason 6-4.
Devyn Dearinger pitched four innings, allowing seven hits and three runs with two strikeouts. Lincoln Bear was outstanding in relief, going two and two-thirds innings with four strikeouts to close it out.
At the plate, Zeke Schmadeke doubled with two RBIs and scored a run. Hunter Tennell, Lincoln Bear, and Devyn Dearinger each added hits. Dearinger and Conner Oase drove in runs, with Oase also scoring twice. Van Johnson added an RBI, and Logan Doyle scored after being hit by a pitch.
Sequim now sits at 3-1 in league play after a 10-0 loss to Kingston on Friday.
Port Angeles rolled past Foss, 24-0.
In softball, the Roughriders improved to 3-0 in league and 5-0 overall with a 14-4 win over Kingston.
Lynzee Reid earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing one run on three hits. Allison Leitz worked two innings in relief with four strikeouts.
At the plate, Reid had two doubles and two RBIs. Morgan Politika tripled and drove in a run. Kennedy Rognlien had two singles and an RBI. Makkiah Stevens added two RBIs, Abby Rudd hit a two-run homer, and Lilly Anne Lancaster, Allison Leitz, and Parker Horn each contributed RBIs.

In track and field, Port Angeles competed in a three-team meet at Kingston against the Buccaneers and Sequim.
Event winners for the boys included Liam Wilson in the 100 meters at 11.70, Andre Campbell in the 400, Easton Dempsey in the 800, and Gabryle Caldwell in the 300 hurdles.
The 4×100 relay team of Hunter Eller, Logan Wilson, Easton Dempsey, and Chayce Wilson won in 45.48, and the 4×400 relay team of Dempsey, Logan Wilson, Liam Wilson, and Campbell finished in 3:39.20.
Brody Pierce won the high jump at 5-foot-4, the long jump at 19-11, and the triple jump at 42 feet, 6 inches. Hunter Flores took the javelin at 141 feet.
For the girls, Mya Hill won the 400 in 1:09.33, Ava Fox the 800 in 3:08.77, Leia Larson the 3200 in 12:06.89, and Teanna Clark the javelin at 137 feet. Cela Waknitz won the triple jump.
