SEQUIM — A longtime Clallam PUD insider is stepping away from elected office.
Commissioner John Purvis says he will not seek re-election to the District 2 seat this year, making the announcement during Tuesday’s board meeting.
Purvis has deep roots with the utility — spending more than 16 years on staff, including serving as assistant general manager before being appointed to the board in 2023.
He also brought decades of experience to the role, with a roughly 40-year career in power systems engineering.
In a statement, Purvis thanked PUD employees and fellow commissioners, saying he has the “utmost appreciation” for their work serving Clallam County.
The PUD, in turn, credited Purvis for his leadership and contributions to maintaining reliable electric and utility services.
Purvis’ current term expires at the end of the year.
