Port Angeles – District 3 Clallam County Commissioner Mike French announced on Thursday his campaign for reelection.
French, who was born and raised in Clallam County and now lives on the Westside of Port Angeles with his wife and two children, was twice elected to the Port Angeles City Council before defeating incumbent County Commissioner Bill Peach in 2022.
French is a graduate of Central Washington University and former owner/operator of the First Street Haven Restaurant in downtown Port Angeles before selling the business to two former employees.
A news release says French has focused his first term as County Commissioner on supporting economic development, increasing housing accessibility, updating environmental policies, and addressing public safety. He chaired the Recompete Coalition, which included a team of local leaders that brought $35.6 million of federal investment to the North Olympic Peninsula to create living-wage jobs.
