Clallam County Ballots Due Tuesday as Library Levy Goes to Voters

PORT ANGELES — Ballots are due today (4/28) in Clallam County’s special election, which includes a levy lid lift for the North Olympic Library System.

The measure would restore the library system’s regular property tax rate to 45 cents per one thousand dollars of assessed value. Library officials say the levy makes up nearly 90 percent of the system’s operating revenue and supports services in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks, and Clallam Bay.

The proposal comes as the library system looks to maintain current service levels, with the rate reset intended to offset limits on annual property tax growth.

Ballots were mailed earlier this month and must be postmarked or returned to an official drop box by 8 p.m. tonight to be counted.
