LOCAL SPORTS: Riders Split in Tennis, Shut Out Bremerton as Busy Day Highlights Prep Sports Action

PORT ANGELES — In tennis action, Port Angeles beat Bremerton 5-2, then fell to Kingston 6-1.

In the win over Bremerton, Avery Camissa took her singles match 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles play, Ivy Powless and Keira Brown won 6-4, 6-3.
Allison Fricker and Rylie Medley dominated 6-0, 6-0.
Cate Chance and Charlotte Curran won 6-1, 6-1, and Miya Allen and Elise Sirguy also posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

In the loss to Kingston, Powless and Brown picked up the team’s lone win, 6-2, 6-1.

In baseball, Port Angeles shut out Bremerton 2-0, while Sequim fell to North Kitsap 5-4.

The Wolves, now 5-11, travel to Chimacum today to face 6-11 East Jefferson. That game will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio, with the pregame show at 3:45 and first pitch at 4:00.

In softball today, Sequim travels to Bremerton for a 5:00 start, while Port Angeles heads to Kingston for a 4:15 first pitch.

In soccer tonight, 5th-ranked Port Angeles, 12-2, travels to Sequim for a 7:00 kickoff.

In golf, the Port Angeles girls fell just short against Bremerton, 219 to 217.
Layla Porter led the way with a 52.
Mya Callis shot a season-best 54, and Raynee Ciarlo added a personal-best 56.
Lainey Rudd finished with a 57, and Hellen Fishman recorded a season-best 60.

On the boys’ side, the Roughriders turned in another strong performance, beating Bremerton 158 to 219.
Cale Wentz and Sky Gelder both shot 38s, Noah Myers added a 39, Max Gagnon shot a 43, and Kolby Charles finished with a 47.
