PORT ANGELES Today marks the start of candidate filing week in Clallam County, opening the door for residents to officially enter this year’s local elections.

Filing begins at 8:00 this morning and runs through Friday at 5:00 p.m., with candidates able to submit their paperwork online, in person, or by mail through the County Auditor’s Elections Office.

A wide range of positions are up for election this year, including Clallam County Commissioner District 3, Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, Assessor, Auditor, and Treasurer, along with two District Court judge positions and a seat on the Public Utility District board.

Precinct Committee Officer positions for both major political parties are also on the ballot, with two spots open in each precinct.

County officials are encouraging candidates to file online if possible, calling it the fastest and easiest option. Those filing in person can do so at the Elections and Voter Registration Office in the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles.

All filings — including any required fees — must be completed by the Friday deadline to be considered valid.

More information, including a full list of offices and candidate guidelines, is available on the county’s elections website: https://www.clallamcountywa.gov/1692/Candidate-Filing-Information
