PORT ANGELES — Another vehicle has crashed into a building in Port Angeles, adding to a growing list of similar incidents across the city in recent years.

This latest crash happened just before 6 o’clock Tuesday evening along West 8th Street. According to the Port Angeles Fire Department, a pickup truck left the roadway, traveled about half a block along the sidewalk, and slammed through the side of Strait View Baptist Church — even pushing partially out the other side of the building.

Fire crews, along with Olympic Ambulance and local law enforcement, responded to the scene. Crews secured the area and treated the driver, who was the only person involved. That driver was transported to Olympic Medical Center with injuries.

No one inside the building was hurt.

Firefighters also had to cut into part of the structure to help remove the vehicle, which had become lodged inside the church. The building has since been turned back over to church representatives.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
