Forks man sentenced in domestic violence case

courtroom-and-gavel-3

Port Angeles – A 21-year-old Forks man has been sentenced for domestic violence charges against his former girlfriend.

Anthoney Beglinger was sentenced to 30 months in prison for burglary in the first degree and unlawful imprisonment, both of which were acts of domestic violence, following a guilty plea to those charges.

Court records show Beglinger, in violation of a protection order, went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, kicked in her door and assaulted her. After the assault, he attempted to restrain her from leaving her property by blocking her driveway with his vehicle and kicking her vehicle windows.

After Beglinger’s release from prison, he will be on community custody for 18 months, will be required to comply with substance abuse treatment and  take a domestic violence course. There is also a lifetime no contact order between Beglinger and his ex-girlfriend.

The prosecutor credited the ex-girlfriend for coming forward and having the strength to stand her ground against her domestic abuser.
