PORT ANGELES — If you’re a baseball fan who loves edge-of-your-seat games that come down to the final out, welcome to the 2026 District 3 Baseball Tournament.
With the exception of defending state champion and No. 1 seed Bainbridge, the Olympic League season proved records didn’t mean much.
The No. 7 seed Port Angeles Roughriders, 11-8 overall, host the No. 10 seed Bremerton Knights, 8-10, today at Civic Field with first pitch set for 4:00.
Port Angeles beat Bremerton 3-0 and 2-0 during the regular season. The Roughriders have also won their last eight games against the Knights, with six of those victories coming by shutout.
One of the biggest surprises of the Olympic League season has been senior Owen Leitz.
Leitz, who did not record a varsity at-bat last year, has emerged as one of the league’s top hitters, leading the Roughriders with a .381 batting average, 16 hits, and eight runs scored.
Those around the program say Leitz had a strong JV season last year, but with a talented senior class already in place, he simply didn’t get his opportunity.
Senior Easton Fisher is hitting a solid .289, while junior Zach Debray is batting .262.
As expected, senior pitcher Cody Williams has been outstanding on the mound with a lights-out 1.80 ERA and 45 strikeouts.

Roughrider senior pitcher Cody Williams appeared on the KONP Newsradio postgame show after another strong outing this season. Williams carries an impressive 1.80 ERA into district tournament play.
Senior Brayden Martin has also earned all-league consideration with a 4-1 record, a team-leading 54 strikeouts, and a strong 2.30 ERA.
If the Roughriders can knock off the Knights in this loser-out contest, they’ll travel to face No. 2 seed Fife of the South Puget Sound League tomorrow at 4:00.
Over the last three years, Port Angeles is 8-1 against South Puget Sound League opponents.
Today’s game will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio, with the pregame show beginning at 3:45. Oly Archibald and Greg Thomas will have the call.

Roughrider senior shortstop Bryce DeLeon had big shoes to fill this season, stepping in for graduated standout Alex Angevine.
The Sequim Wolves, 7-12 overall and the No. 9 seed, travel to face No. 8 seed Franklin Pierce, 10-9, today in another loser-out game at 4:00. The winner advances to face Bainbridge tomorrow.

Wolves sophomore pitcher Conner Oase has been outstanding late in the season, helping Sequim build momentum heading into today’s district playoff game at Franklin Pierce.
In softball, Port Angeles beat North Kitsap 13-3 to claim the league championship.
Allison Leitz pitched 3 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and no runs allowed, while Lynzee Reid worked 2 2/3 innings with one strikeout.
Mariah Traband led the offense with a triple, a single, and four RBIs.
Kennedy Rognlien added a triple, a single, and three RBIs.
Nyomie Colfax had three singles.
Makkiah Stevens added two singles and two RBIs.
Morgan Politika doubled and singled.
Lilly Anne Lancaster contributed a sacrifice fly.
Mariah Disque added an RBI single, and Lynzee Reid finished with two singles.
