PORT ANGELES — Clallam County 4-H riders are bringing home honors after a strong showing at the State 4-H Hippology and Horse Bowl Competition.
For the first time, Clallam County fielded a team at the statewide event, with Ellie Adamire, Reagan Doane, Isabella Garrison and Matilda Redlin competing against teams from across Washington.
The team placed fifth in the Hippology competition earlier this month, which tests horse knowledge and practical equine skills.
On Sunday, Clallam County advanced all the way to the championship round in the Horse Bowl competition, going undefeated before falling to Snohomish County by just five points to earn the Reserve Champion title.
Ellie Adamire also took top individual honors in the intermediate division, earning the highest overall score of the competition.
The team was coached by Cori Hightower and DaLasa Doane. Organizers say the strong debut highlights the growing success of Clallam County’s 4-H equestrian program.
