PORT ANGELES – Unemployment jumped up last month in Clallam County.
According to the state Employment Security Department, the county had an unemployment rate of 12.6%. That’s up two and half percent from June.
About 550 more people were getting unemployment benefits in Clallam County in July compared to June.
In July of last year, the unemployment rate was 6.2%.
Jefferson County’s unemployment rate also climbed to 12% last month.
Statewide, the unemployment rate is at just over ten percent.
