SEQUIM – Police are investigating smash and grab thefts from cars in the Sequim area.
On Tuesday, just after noon, deputies investigated six car prowls at the Olympic Discovery Trail’s Strait View Drive trailhead. All six vehicles were forcibly entered by suspect(s) who broke out the side windows on all the vehicles. The only items found missing were bank cards from one of the vehicles.
A short time later, the Sequim Police Department responded to a report of two more vehicles which had been prowled while parked near the Olympic Discovery Trail’s Whitefeather Way trailhead. A firearm was stolen from one of the vehicles.

They also passed along a reminder to not leave any valuables in your vehicle, especially firearms. Smash and grab thefts occur when the thieves see something of value in your vehicle and decide it’s worth the risk to break your window.
