SEQUIM – The state Health Department has closed recreational shellfish harvesting for all species in Sequim Bay.
The move comes after elevated levels of biotoxins and comes days after the state announced someone was stricken with paralytic shellfish poisoning from eating shellfish harvested in nearby Island County.
Discovery Bay remains open to all species, but the west end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca is closed to Butter and Varnish clams only. Ocean beaches are all closed for the season currently.
