PORT ANGELES – Five people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision west of Port Angeles.

It happened just before eight last night on Highway 101 a mile west of Laird’s Corner.

The State Patrol says a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 19-year-old Dylan Hollis of Port Angeles went out of control in a corner, crossed the center line and collided with a 2019 GMC Yukon driven by 58-year-old Laura Mabrey of Port Angeles.

Hollis and a 19-year-old passenger in the Jetta, Haiden Breitbach, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Two other passengers in the car, 19-year-old Laken Folsom and 20-year-old Angeliyah Vlask, were also injured and taken to Olympic Medical Center.

Mabrey was also injured and transported by private vehicle to OMC. All the injured were Port Angeles residents.

The highway was closed for four and half hours.

The State Patrol says the accident is still under investigation.
