Water back on for Port Angeles customers

PORT ANGELES – Crews have fixed a broken water main that had affected water supplies for more than 500 Port Angeles connections.

Last evening, the busted 20-inch water main near Golf Course Road was repaired. City officials say service was restored to all customers by last night.

Following the repair, the water main was disinfected and flushed. However, a boil-water advisory is still in effect for homes in the Golf Course Road and east to Mt Pleasant Road area until satisfactory water tests come back from the lab. That’s expected Friday.

The water main broke last Saturday morning. At one point some 540 connections were affected, including a couple of senior living and mental health care facilities. Crew were able to re-establish water to some of the customers earlier, but the bulk of the customers were without water through yesterday.

The city had provided bottled drinking water to those without water and Shore Aquatic Center had offered people free showers.
