Student killed in Seattle school shooting

SEATTLE — A student who was shot at Ingraham High School in Seattle this morning has died and a suspect is in custody.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell confirmed during an afternoon press conference that the student died after being treated at a hospital. The victim was not identified.

During a news conference at about 11:00 a.m., Seattle Police Chief Adrien Diaz announced that a suspect had been arrested. Witnesses said a male suspect was arrested at a nearby bus stop on Aurora Avenue. A dozen officers armed with semi-automatic rifles swarmed the area and arrested the suspect, who did not resist, according to witnesses.

The reunification of students with their parents began before noon, with students being released one classroom at a time to the auditorium, where families signed them out.

Seattle Public Schools announced Tuesday that classes at Ingraham would be canceled for Wednesday, Nov. 9.
