PORT ANGELES — It’s a big day for the 11-3, 12th-ranked Port Angeles Roughrider baseball team. The Roughriders have a 4:14 pm first pitch date with class 3A #1-ranked 10-1 Bainbridge Spartans at Bainbridge. First-year Roughrider skipper Zac Moore will send Kole Acker to the mound. Acker is 3-0 on the season, has only given up 3 runs with 18 strike outs. Acker is also the 2nd leading hitter for the Roughriders, hitting 471. Sophomore shortstop Alex Angevine is leading the Roughriders in hitting with a 460 batting average, leading in hits with 23 and leading in doubles with 8 and runs scored with 21. The Roughriders are averaging 8 runs per game and giving up just two.

In tennis action, the Roughriders shut out Kingston 7-0. In singles, Liberty Lauer won 6-0, 6-1 and Waverly Mead won 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action, Gwyneth Van Blair and Bella Artis won 6-4, 6-4. Sarah Hancock and Bridget Weed won 6-0, 6-0.

In track and field action, the Roughriders had season point highs with girls earning 76 points and the boys who finished 2nd against North Kitsap, Bremerton and Sequim. First place finishers included Parker Nickerson in the 300 meters. In the four by four 400 relay, it was Kaiden Point, Easton Dempsey, Zach Pullara and Dylan Williams. In the girls 200 meters, it was Samara Holshouser. Violet Miller won the Javelin event.
