PORT ANGELES – The Port of Port Angeles Commissioners, in a special meeting on Tuesday, appointed Paul Jarkiewicz to be the Interim Executive Director of the Port after Geoff James’ sudden resignation last week.
Jarkiewicz is currently the Director of Operations, which has him in charge of the terminal, log yard operations and more.
Port Commissioner Connie Beauvais told us Jarkiewicz will take on the added responsibility of Interim Director for at least the summer and possibly beyond.
“We are going to wait until our first Port Commission meeting in September, and we will evaluate where we are, and if we feel a need to begin a search.”
Beauvais told us earlier this week that Geoff James came back from vacation and announced he was resigning, effective last Friday, June 2. She did not know the reason for his leaving so suddenly, but praised James’ performance since taking the job just over 2 years ago.
