SEQUIM — Authorities arrested a Sequim man after a high-speed chase on Old Olympic Highway Friday night, ending with drug charges and DUI suspicion. Around 10 p.m., A Clallam County Deputy tried to pull over a vehicle near North Barr Rd. for erratic driving. The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Brian J. Arnold, refused to stop and sped away, reaching over 85 mph.
Undersheriff Lorraine Shore says Arnold led the deputy on a chase through Sequim, tossing items from the vehicle along the way. After heading south onto Taylor Cutoff Rd., the chase ended on Lost Mountain Rd. Law enforcement from the Washington State Patrol, Sequim Police, and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.
Shore says investigators recovered drug paraphernalia thrown from the car, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed more paraphernalia and a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Arnold faces multiple charges, including Felony Attempt to Elude, DUI, driving with a suspended license, and drug possession. A passenger in the vehicle was questioned and released.
