Volunteers to tackle Ozette beach trash

PORT ANGELES — Volunteers and Olympic National Park staff will join forces on September 21 to clean marine debris from the park’s coastline as part of the International Coastal Cleanup. This year’s effort will focus on the Ozette Loop. Volunteers can pre-register online by September 13 or sign up in person on September 20 and 21 at the Ozette trailhead.

The cleanup is part of a global event involving over 150 countries. In 2023, volunteers removed 1,620 pounds of trash from nearby beaches. This year, participants will hike three miles to reach the Ozette coastline, gathering and hauling out debris on foot.

Free camping will be available for pre-registered volunteers.
