PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles City Manager Nathan West delivered the 2025 State of the City address this week to the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

Among the highlights, West told the packed room at the Red Lion Hotel that Port Angeles has seen an 86% increase in median household income since 2000. However, housing remains a priority, with 95 new units underway and incentives supporting affordability. He noted that the North View Apartment Complex, a partnership with Peninsula Behavioral Health, will add 36 units to the city’s housing stock.

West also reported that the police department is now fully staffed. Additionally, the Community Paramedicine program provided medical outreach to 382 patients last year.

The city is investing $53.3 million in transportation projects, including the repaving of 8th Street. He said the infrastructure capacity of “A” Street could help accommodate 1,400 new housing units. The second phase of the Race Street Corridor project, which will connect the Olympic National Park Visitor Center to the waterfront, is heading into the design phase.

West added that the city has more than $187 million in planned projects over the next six years.
