Grand Finale Weekend of Sequim Irrigation Festival Brings Parades, Loggers, Fireworks and More

SEQUIM — It’s the Grand Finale Weekend for the 130th Sequim Irrigation Festival — and organizers are going big.

Events are happening all across town through Sunday, from historic tours and classic cars to parades, fireworks, and even loggers throwing axes.

Saturday’s Grand Parade kicks off at noon with more than 110 entries expected along Washington Street. You’ll see festival royalty, local bands, floats, and Grand Marshal Mike Dashiell, former longtime editor of the Sequim Gazette.

Before the parade, runners and walkers can take part in a 1-mile or 5K run along the same route, starting at 11 a.m. near the future Shipley Center.

Car lovers can check out the Classic Car Show starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at 250 Center Park Way, with judging and awards later in the afternoon.

Tonight through Sunday, Sequim High School presents its final weekend of “Oklahoma!” — curtain is at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a matinee Sunday at 2.

The Sequim Logging Show is also back Friday and Saturday, running as a separate event just south of Carrie Blake Park. Friday features tractor and truck pulls from noon to 6, a Loggers’ Ball at 7, and fireworks at dusk. The competition continues Saturday from 9 to 6.
