PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center and UW Medicine have signed a Letter of Intent to explore a potential affiliation, signaling the start of a formal due diligence process. The announcement was made during OMC’s Board of Commissioners meeting yesterday.
Brad Simmons, president of UW Medicine Hospital & Clinics, attended the meeting to outline how the two organizations could benefit from closer alignment. He also met with OMC leadership and toured its facilities to better understand local needs.
Officials say the next step involves a joint financial and operational assessment of OMC to identify opportunities for growth and ensure any future agreement is sustainable and aligned with both organizations’ missions.
In a prepared release, OMC officials emphasized that current services remain unchanged during this process, and patients should continue care as usual. Leadership pledged ongoing transparency and regular updates to the community as discussions progress.
