PORT ANGELES — In soccer action last night, Port Angeles survived a first-half downpour to get by Bremerton 2-0. The Roughriders, now 4-2 in league and 6-2 overall, scored both goals in the first half from freshman Emma Desjardins, who notched her ninth and tenth goals of the season.

Port Angeles had several near-misses on quality shots, while the defense was solid again. Goalie Kennedy Rognlien earned her fifth shutout of the year, with strong play from defenders Sophia Ritchie, Maddie Walton, and Cayleigh Alward. Walton started in place of Brooke Pierce, who is day-to-day with a hip flexor. The Riders will host a tough Kingston Buccaneers team Thursday night at 7:15.

Roughrider freshman Emma Desjardins does it again — scoring her ninth and tenth goals of the year to lift Port Angeles to a 2-0 win over Bremerton.

Sequim fell 2-0 in a close one at North Kitsap. Wolves goalie Lillian Anderson recorded seven saves, while midfielder Ruby Moxley-Horgon had a strong match. Sequim will host Bremerton tomorrow at 7:00.

In volleyball, Port Angeles swept Bremerton in three sets, while Sequim dropped a hard-fought match at North Kitsap 3-2. The Roughriders host Kingston tomorrow at 6:30, and Sequim will host Bremerton at the same time.

Today in Olympic League cross country, teams gather at North Mason with a 5:00 start. In swimming, the Roughriders host East Jefferson at 3:00.

And in NWAC soccer, the Peninsula Pirates travel to Bellevue for a doubleheader. The men kick off at 2:00, followed by the women at 4:15.

Top-ranked Peninsula Pirates sophomore Grace Widergren, a South Kitsap High School alum, scored five goals in a 23-0 rout of Shoreline last weekend.
