SEQUIM – The Sequim School Board on Monday elected to renew the contract of interim School Superintendent Rob Clark for at least one more year.
Brandino Gibson, the new school board chair, says that after Clark’s first 6 months at the helm, they decided they like the direction the district is headed.
“So, you know, we reviewed this quite in-depth, looking forward to what the options were, whether we wanted to go out and look for a full-time or continue with Rob’s contract and, you know, he’s been doing a good job to this point. We did survey parents and staff and they came back pretty positive about the work that they felt that he’s been doing. And so with that, we felt like, you know, ‘let’s keep somebody around for a while who’s been doing a good job’.”
Clark came to Sequim from the Milton-Freewater District after the resignation of Gary Neal to lead a district that had been struggling with HR issues and lawsuits, and didn’t hesitate in making some changes in school staff. He described the early months here using terms such as “trial by fire” and “drinking from the firehose”, but also told us recently that he would like to keep the position if the district chose to renew his contract.
