Clallam County to aid ailing tourism groups in second round of grants

PORT ANGELES – Clallam County plans another round of stimulus grants for area tourism-related non-profits severely hit by the coronavirus shut down.

The so-called “Keep the Lights On” grants are being funded from the county’s lodging tax dollars, money collected from rentals of hotel rooms and camp visits.

The county expects to award grants of between $5,000 and $25,000 to non-profits deemed eligible and dependent on money and reserves available in the lodging tax account. Application forms are available through the commissioners’ office and are due by noon Wednesday June 17th.

This is the second round of these grants. In April, seven groups received them. The Dungeness River Audubon Center received $25,000, Port Angeles Marathon Association $24,000, Feiro Marine Life Center $22,000, Port Angeles Fine Arts Center $10,000, National Marine Sanctuary Foundation $9,000, Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts and Forks Timber Museum got $5,000.
