Incumbents cruise to general election in local vote results

PORT ANGELES – In local election results, it appears incumbents have all easily advanced to the general election.

In the two races for State House, the top two-vote getters will advance. Incumbent Democrat Mike Chapman will face Republican Sue Forde in the general election. Chapman received 57 percent of the vote. Forde finished second with 26 percent.  Incumbent Democrat Steve Tharinger will take on Republican Brian Pruiett. Tharinger received 48 percent of the vote and Pruiett finishes second with 26 percent.

In primary for PUD commissioner, Patti Morris and Rich Paschall appear to be moving to the general election. Morris getting 49 percent of the vote, Paschall getting about 21 percent.

In the race of US House, Incumbent 6th District Congressman Derek Kilmer garnered 49 percent of the vote. The Democrat will face Republican Elizabeth Kreiselmaier, who received about 26 percent of the vote.

A measure to lift the levy lid for Clallam Fire District Two is getting about 53 percent yes vote.

Elections officials counted about 22 thousand ballots last night. There are about five thousand ballots are left to count.
