PORT ANGELES – The Port Angeles School District is looking for applicants for the Capital Advisory Committee that will help guide the expansion and remodel of Stevens Middle School.
The capital levy, passed by voters in February specifically for this project, is a property tax of $2.62 per thousand dollars of assessed value over 5 years, to be collected in the years 2021 through 2025.
The $53-million expansion of Stevens will make it a three-year school, grades 6 through 8, intended to free up space in the elementary schools for expected growth in population in the district.
The Capital Advisory Committee will help communicate with the public, review expenditures, develop and review the design, and provide feedback during the selection of contractors.
The Port Angeles School Board and Superintendent Marty Brewer are looking to fill 6 community member positions on the committee. Applications will be accepted until October 16, 2020 at 5pm. Selection and notification will be announced by October 30, 2020.
