PORT ANGELES – Unemployment rates dipped in Clallam County in January.
According to state figures released yesterday, Clallam County’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.6%. It was 7.9% in December.
The unemployment rate is lower than in January 2020 when it was at 8%.
But a drop of 1000 people in the county’s labor force may explain most of the change.
Compared to December, about 100 fewer people had applied for first time or continued unemployment in January.
Washington state’s unemployment rate dropped to 6% in January, down from December’s 7.1% rate. The Employment Security Department said that in addition to the drop in the overall jobless rate, the state added 4,400 jobs in January.
