Incumbents lead early election filings

PORT ANGELES – City council races for Port Angeles and Sequim are already shaping up after the first day of filing for election.

Yesterday the four incumbent Port Angeles City Council members up for re-election, filed. Mike French, Lindsey Schromin-Wawrin, Kate Dexter and LaTrisha Suggs are seeking second terms.

Suggs drew a competitor as Adam Garcia filed to run for her seat. And Schromin-Wawrin has also drawn a contested race when Jena Stamper filed.

Incumbent Sequim City Council Members Brandon Janisse, Sarah Kincaid and Rachel Anderson filed for re-election. Kincaid drew a competitor when Kathy Downer filed for her seat.

Incumbent Port Angeles School Board member Sarah Methner has filed to run for re-election.

Jean Stratton has filed to run for the PA School Board seat currently held by Cindy Kelly.

Rachel Tax and Patrice Johnston have filed to run for positions on the Sequim School Board.

Incumbent Port of Port Angeles Commissioners Colleen McAleer and Steve Burke filed for re-election.

Jeff Nicholas filed this morning to run for a position on the Fire District Three board.

Filing opened this morning and runs through the end of the business day on Friday. There are 42 local offices on the ballot in Clallam County this fall.
