LOCAL SPORTS: PA and Sequim girls win at district tourney

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls basketball team opened district play with an easy 73-28 win over the Franklin Pierce Cardinals. The Roughriders entire team got in the act of scoring as ten of the 11 Roughriders who suited up scored. The only Roughrider who did not score was Freshman Raeah Kibe. She was the only JV player pulled up by Mike Poindexter. Kibe almost scored when she made a power move on the baseline and her shot rolled in and out. Her teammates on the bench were wanting to explode had the shot gone in.

The Roughriders jumped out to an early 18-5 lead and led 46-19 at the half. The Roughriders went up by forty-two points with 5:48 left in the game and the nonstop clock rule was in effect. Bailee Larson hit for thirteen. Anna Petty scored nine points, Paige Mason had six points, Piper Williams had five points, Jenna McGoff and Angelina Sprague had four points, Jade Gedelman hit a 3 ball and Isabelle Felton and Lexie Smith both had 2 points.

But when it came to her Wolves shocking Enumclaw 54-45 last night, Bates stat line was as high as neighboring Mount Rainier. Bates had a team High 20 points pulled down and incredible nine boards and had three steals. Sequim Soph. Jolene Vaara had her usual control of the boards scoring twelve points pulling down nine rebounds and blocking four shots. Sr. Hannah Wagner had eight points and seven rebounds.
