Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc retires

PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc retired Tuesday after joining the department in 2001 and serving as Chief since 2012. City staff and public safety personnel gathered Tuesday at Port Angeles Fire Dept. Station 11 to say goodbye and to thank him for his service.

With over 44 years of public safety service, Chief Dubuc has a long resume in the firefighting business. He began as a seasonal firefighter with the Forest Service in 1978 and worked as a volunteer firefighter with the Larkspur, CA Fire Department. After graduating from UC Davis and serving a stint in the Navy, he worked as a firefighter at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in Marin County.

From there, Chief Dubuc served in Gresham, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington before coming to Port Angeles as the Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal in 2001.

During his tenure here, Chief Dubuc added three firefighter paramedics to the Department and created the Community Paramedic program.

Fun Fact: Chief Dubuc and Port Angeles Police Chief Brian Smith grew up together in Larkspur, CA and knew each other as kids.
