OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Due to declining fire activity and favorable weather conditions, the Olympic National Park fire management team announced Thursday they are reopening some of the trail closures surrounding the current Olympic National Park lightning fires.
Trail closures are implemented to protect visitors and allow fire operations to do their jobs. As soon as conditions allow, managers amend their closures.
The fire area received an average of 4 inches of rain over the past 48 hours and was expected to receive additional rain on Thursday. Reduced smoke and fire activity was seen during ground surveys.
Trail closures:
Elwha River Trail from Dodger Point Trail junction to Low Divide
Hayden Pass Trail
Dosewallips River Trail from Dose Meadows to Hayden Pass
North Fork Quinault Trail from Elip Creek trail junction to Low Divide
Skyline Trail from Elip Creek Trail junction to Low Divide
Martin Park Trail
Obstruction Point Road and Trailhead
