LOCAL SPORTS: PA gets baseball, fast pitch wins

YELM — The Port Angeles Roughrider baseball team earned a tough 3-2 win at Yelm on Saturday. Alex Angevine had a hit and an RBI. Luke Flodstrom had a hit and scored a run. Nathan Basden had a hit and scored a run and Kaleb Mullen scored a run. The Roughriders used 6 pitchers to hold the Tornados to just 2 runs on 3 hits.

The Roughriders are now 6-1 and have a big home game tomorrow against North Kitsap.

The Roughrider fast pitch team earned 2 wins Saturday at Bellevue College.

In the first game the Roughriders hammered Ellensburg 17-2. Heidi Leitz had a single, a triple and 3 RBIs. Lynzee Reid had 2 singles and an RBI. Mary Halberg had a single.

Kennedy Rognlien and Natalie Robinson both had 2-run homeruns. Cydne Moore had a triple. Ava Anne Sheahan had a single and a double. Lynzee Reid pitched 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Sophia Ritchie pitched 2 innings giving up 3 hits and zero runs.

The Roughriders then beat East Valley Yakima 5-3. Heidi Leitz went 7 complete innings with 8 strikeouts to earn the win.

The Roughriders host Olympic tomorrow at 4:15.

In soccer action, the Roughriders lost to Olympic 2-1. Kanyon Anderson earned the lone goal for the Roughriders. The Roughriders host North Kitsap tomorrow night at 6:45.

There is tennis action today as the Roughriders host North Mason at 4:00.

The Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team has signed two high school recruits.

Lexi Shelton of South Jordan, Utah was a 2023 6A 1st team All Region Selection.

From the foothills of the Grand Teton mountains comes Kierston Navarro of Rigby, Idaho. Navarro was a 2023 5A Bi District 1st team All-Conference selection.
