GARDINER – Starting Monday, April 15, travelers on Highway 101 east of Gardiner will start seeing orange construction signs alerting them to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s latest fish passage project.
The work zone is near the eastern end of Old Gardiner Road. Crews will begin efforts to build a two-lane bypass road that will keep people moving while a new bridge is built over Contractors Creek.
Most work that requires one-way alternating traffic will be done at night. Work at this location is anticipated to be completed in September of next year.
This is one of two other locations along US 101 between Gardiner and Sequim where crews are working to remove barriers to fish.
