Heat Advisory Issued for Port Angeles and Sequim

PORT ANGELES — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Port Angeles and Sequim area, with the hottest weather expected early this week.

Temperatures will climb through Monday, peaking Tuesday when forecasters expect the highest heat of the season so far for much of western Washington.  Port Angeles and Sequim will reach highs into the 80s in interior areas Overnight lows in the low-to-mid 60s could limit relief after dark, increasing the risk of heat-related illness.

The advisory warns that people sensitive to heat, and those without access to cooling or hydration, are most at risk. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

In addition, low humidity levels — dropping to 20–35 percent — will bring elevated fire danger through Tuesday, especially in the nearby mountains.

Cooler and more humid weather is forecast to arrive Wednesday, with a chance of rain later in the week.
