Port Angeles – The City of Port Angeles’ over-the-counter (OTC) permitting program known as “Super Tuesdays” has been a big success. So much so, that the City Council recently approved making the Tuesday only, part-time position, a full-time program.
So, now that the temporary Community Development Technician position has been turned into a permanent role, OTC permitting services will expand to every business day. This means the permanent Community Development Technician will be available to assist with application submission and provide same-day issuance of OTC permits every day that City Hall is open.
As before, eligible permit applications can be submitted, reviewed, and issued on the same day when final payment is made. To ensure projects meet required standards, all OTC applications will be reviewed for life safety and code compliance before issuance. While appointments are not required, they are encouraged to ensure an efficient permit review process.
Over-the-counter permits apply to low-complexity residential projects that don’t require detailed plans or extensive review. Think…HVAC system installation, replacing or installing water heaters, replacing water or sewer lines, solar panel installation, roofing and siding replacement, and propane tank installation, just to name a few.
The OTC program expansion will begin this fall, after the permanent position has been filled.
