PORT ANGELES — The City of Port Angeles is asking for community input on an upcoming Bike Boulevard Project planned for the city’s west side.
Known as “Project TR0318” in the city’s Capital Facilities Plan, the effort aims to improve safety and connectivity for both cyclists and pedestrians — linking existing bike routes along 10th Street west of “I” Street to the 8th Street Bridges.
Although construction is still at least a year away, city officials say they want to hear from residents now. An online survey is open through October 15th, gathering feedback on the needs and experiences of current and potential cyclists. That input will help shape the project’s final design and guide the city’s next steps.
Planned improvements include new bicycle wayfinding signs and markings, buffered and non-buffered bike lanes, two-way protected bike lanes, traffic diverters, narrower vehicle lanes, median turn restrictions, new crosswalks and stop signs, and flashing pedestrian beacons to enhance safety.
The project is fully funded at $1.96 million through the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Program, which helps local governments complete key projects identified in city safety plans.
Residents can share their thoughts and help guide the project by completing the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7RJ973J by October 15th.
